Not This Cookie — Privacy Policy

Not This Cookie is a Chrome extension that answers cookie-consent banners on your behalf — always declining non-essential tracking — and keeps a private log of those attempts. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what Not This Cookie does and does not do with information.

The short version

Nothing you do with Not This Cookie ever leaves your device. There is no account, no server, and no analytics. Not This Cookie makes zero network requests of its own. Everything it stores stays in your browser's local storage on your computer, under your control.

What Not This Cookie stores, and where

Not This Cookie stores the following using your browser's chrome.storage.local — an on-device store that only this extension, on this device, can read:

• Your settings: your reject/notify/off policy and your per-site pause list.
• A log of banner attempts: for each attempt, the website's domain, the time, the categories the banner asked for, what Not This Cookie did, and the outcome — plus a monthly tally.

This information is never transmitted anywhere. It exists only to power the popup counter and the dashboard log that you see.

What Not This Cookie does not do

• It does not create an account or ask for any personal details.
• It does not send data to us or to anyone else — it has no server to send it to.
• It does not use analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or remote configuration.
• It does not load fonts, scripts, or any other assets from the internet.
• It does not track you across sites or build a profile of you.
• It does not read or store the content of the pages you visit, beyond what is needed to find a cookie banner and click its reject button.

Permissions

Not This Cookie requests only the storage permission (to keep your settings and log on your device) and permission to run on the pages you visit (because cookie banners can appear on any site). It does not request access to your tabs, your browsing history, your network requests, or anything used to send data off your device.

Your control over your data

From Not This Cookie's dashboard you can export your log as a spreadsheet (comma-separated values) or wipe the log and counters entirely at any time. Uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored.

Children

Not This Cookie collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date above. Because Not This Cookie stores nothing off your device, changes here will never affect data we hold — we hold none.
